Optrol can be applied as a spray or soil drench. Optrol is a systemic insecticide that is transported within the plant system from roots to upper foliage. Active Ingredient: Imidacloprid 21.4% Optrol is the same formulation as Xytect. Insects Controlled: Adelgids, Aphids, Borers (including: Bronze birch borer, Emerald ash borer, Asian longhorn beetle, Eucalyptus longhorn beetle), Elm leaf beetles, Japanese beetles, Lace bugs, Leafhoppers, Leafminers, Mealybugs, Pine tip moth (larvae), Psyllids, Royal palm bug, Sawfly larvae, Soft Scales, Thrips (Suppression), Whiteflies, White grubs larvae. Research: Emerald ash borer slowly kills ash trees by feeding on the tissue which transports water within the tree. Research recommends the active ingredient, imidacloprid, to fight Emerald ash borer.
